Background
Chris has eight years of management- and executive-level experience in the telecommunications industry (including wireless, wireline, and public communications firms), primarily in advertising, marketing, public relations, and IT positions. He also has work experience in virtually every news medium (including on-air work in radio & television, management of an online virtual community, and editing/reporting for a syndicated daily newspaper).
In his last year at the University of Florida, Chris taught "Information Systems & Operations Strategy" (the capstone course of UF's undergraduate DIS program). He also co-taught a managerial statistics class for UF's Internet MBA program and tutored UF's student-athletes in seven subjects (including Java, C++, operations management, and three economics classes). Additionally, since 1998 he has lectured several graduate classes in topics ranging from wireless telecommunication & "Next-Gen" networks ... to computer network security ... to standards and government policy.
In 1999, Chris published the first version of an academic case study on the now-defunct PointCast Network, which is intended to facilitate classroom discussion of network development and implementation strategy. He has developed several other instructional tools covering MIS and DIS topics, including a role-playing exercise that helps graduate business students understand the central issues in the public policy conflict between "Hollywood" (music and film producers) and the "High-tech" industry (hardware and software manufacturers).
